Power Hand Planers are portable hand planers used to taper or smooth the surface of wood.
The blades seem to last for ever and easily switched. And batteries are now cheap (about 40 bucks which is unheard of for 18 volt nicad Boschs).
Perfect for trimming or beveling door and window edges, rabbeting for joinery, trimming protruding window jambs or scribing workpieces to fit irregular surfaces, they are the only 18 and 14.4-volt cordless 3 1/4-inch planers on the market.
Each planer includes two reversible Bosch Woodrazor micrograin carbide blades, which provide a finer finish, up to 30 percent longer life than standard carbide blades, and resist fractures from accidental nail or staple strikes.
In addition to the convenience of cordless, two other features lend themselves to personal adaptability. Both planers feature the Bosch patented two-way chip ejection switch to direct shavings either left or right and an ambidextrous lock off switch accessible from either side.
Woodworkers and other planer users demand the highest level of accuracy in their work.
Bosch has definitely brought the cream to the top with this tool. It leaves its corded cousin behind, the sole plate has multiple v-cuts for chamfering extremely easily with this tool.
Featuring what Bosch calls an Electronically Counterbalanced Single-Blade System and a cutter head speed (no load) of 13,000 RPM, the Bosch 18V cordless planer strikes a good balance between power and battery conversation.
